Hi everyone,

As I shared in my earlier post (along with some parenting honesty), Right At School At Home is all about taking some of that guesswork and stress out of structuring our kids’ days. We all want to make sure our kids are still learning and keeping busy, but it’s a little tough to sift through everything on the internet and in our inboxes. So, a bunch of us parents at Right At School, especially those on our curriculum team who create all of our Right At School activities, are pulling together resources and projects for you to do with your kids.

Some are the best of the best from other educational websites and parent blogs. Some are new activities that we know our after school students would love and can now enjoy at home.  Most are things your kids could potentially do independently if you need a small break.

Here’s a quick guide to the kinds of activities we’re adding every day:

Let’s Get Moving and The Great Outdoors:

This is the toughest part – right? Here are some creative ways to get your kids moving while you’re constrained to home or your backyard. And fresh air is so important right now.

Podcasts:

These can be great as an alternative to reading aloud before bedtime.

Get Crafty:

Okay, the internet does not need more craft ideas. But they’re so fun! So here are a few we like (and require no trips to Michaels!).

Videos:

This is not the time to feel guilty about screens. At least these videos are fun and educational!

Construction Zone:

Keep STEM in your kids’ lives with these fun building projects. We’re doing our best to keep these to materials you’ll already have on-hand.

Fun in the Kitchen:

For when your patience level is such that a kitchen mess will not make you lose it. Easy recipes that use on-hand ingredients and science experiments (just warning you now, there WILL be slime recipes coming – sorry!).

Weekly Challenge:

Each week we’ll introduce a new challenge. Here’s where we really want to see what you all come up with! Use the hashtag #RASAtHome to show us your creations.

As you try out these activities and look through the categories, let me know what you think. Like I said, we’re adding activities every day. Is your student really into the Construction Zone? We’ll design more projects for your budding architect. Is your apartment a little too small for the Fun in the Kitchen activities plus lunch prep? We’ll add even more modification ideas. We’re all in this together, so whatever your need, let me know at katie@rightatschool.com and we’ll be sure to share with our parent community.
