Art of Nature

One of the first things people think of when they think of fall are leaves. During the fall season, there is less sunlight during the day, and temperatures get colder. This causes leaves to change colors and fall to the ground. This leaves (HA!) us with an assortment of beautiful colors all around us. Let’s take some of this beauty from nature and make it into Leaf Creature Artwork!

Take a look at these examples for inspiration!

Supplies:

Construction paper (or anything to act as your canvas), glue stick or liquid glue, and natural materials (leaves, grass, dirt, twigs, etc.) that you find outside.

Steps:

  1. Think about what animal you want to create. You may want to sketch some ideas. And you may change your mind as you go – that’s okay!
  2. Go outside and collect natural materials for your art. You are not limited to leaves! You can use twigs, acorns, grass, stones, flowers – anything you find in nature. We suggest using a baggie or paper bag to collect your materials.
  3. Use your materials to design your Leaf Creature. Perhaps your creature will be a make-believe creature – there are no rules in art, so go wherever your imagination takes you!
  4. Ask your parent or guardian to share your creation! Use the hashtag #RightAtSchool to share your artwork and you’ll be automatically entered to win a free month of Right At School!
