Last year our experience was much different in a different school district. Our son was in a portable and the staff was not engaged with the children at all. This year couldn’t be more different. The staff is incredible. They welcome both my son and my husband and I when we walk through the door and engaged with our son the entire time. Our son is in first grade and has asked us to drop him off as soon as morning care opens because he enjoys it so much. My 9 yr old daughter has asthma which can be triggered when she is feeling anxious. Mr. Andrew, Miss Katie and Ms. Brenda have all been essential in helping her stay calm and have all gone over and beyond to ensure that she feels safe and secure. We often joke that Ms. Brenda is her second mommy. Miss Katie and Rubi love to share short stories with one another, and Mr. Andrew reminds Rubi about homework and keeping her things together (my daughter often losses her coats and lunch bags). Our daughter is new to Audubon this year and the one aspect of her transition that’s been super smooth is her time at Right at School. I love the inclusiveness that the teachers bring to the table. My son’s T.w.s and J.W.S don’t always like to try new things but being at right at school they talk about family thanksgiving and eating the different things and trying Mexican bread for the first time and learning about it. The Lakeridge RAS program has been a very positive experience for my son. He enjoys it, and loves to attend. The staff is caring and supportive. My son gets help with academics even when he doesn’t have homework. He gets the opportunities to socialize with peers. He gets the opportunities to engage in fun and enriching activities. We’ve had a very positive experience this year. My children love the staff & enjoy attending the after school program. Both of my kids will say, “why are you here to pick me up so soon!” They are usually involved in a game or activity when I get there and they don’t want to leave! I really love how the right at school staff for Hunt Elementary really work on ways to help my child in all aspects from homework help to calmly figuring out her feelings. I have 3 kiddos with Autism and I was very nervous about sending them to a program with so many other kids in one giant room with people that didn’t understand them or their needs. I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only were the staff accommodating them and their needs but they made they Junior Educators for younger groups to help build their self esteem and give them something to help them feel like a vital part of the program. I truly touched my heart. My girls love aftercare, and I am very happy with their experience. There are always activities going on, assistants are always interacting with the kids when I show up. My oldest is a Junior Educator with her RAS, and it has been a confidence booster for her. If I send an email, it is responded to promptly, and any questions I have are always answered. I always feel safe knowing my kids are in good hands. Ms Catelyn is such a delight, even when things are hectic, she always remains calm and patient, and really shows a genuine interest in the kids. I sometimes have to work late and it is nice to know the girls are someplace safe, with an enriching experience, and I can be at ease knowing they are having a good time until I can come get them. All teachers from my sons right at school program are patient easy going and well aware of what goes on at the program. I am always updated on any changes or opportunities that are going on from them. Not too long ago I sent my son to school with a new hairstyle and he was complimented by teacher Carlie and now lives going to school with different hairstyles. This program is amazing. I have never had my child in a program in which every day is engaging and fun and incorporates all of the things that after school programs should be about.
